FOR THE LOVE OF..ANOTHER SEASON OF RAY J

So Ray J picked Cocktail as his "girlfriend" on For the Love of Ray J. Not a surprise considering she does favor Kim Kardashian. We ran into Ray J at a party last night at H Wood and couldn't resist asking him about his trio of delite. Simply put, "Danger was crazy FOR REAL FOR REAL...Unique, "no comment" and Cocktail, "Stay tuned for season 2." Shocker! Ray J is and will always be kandy to us. We've been crushing on him for over 10 years! And apparently we're not alone...You should have seen all those paws coming at him. Chicks were throwing business cards & menage' invites all night long.

NICK CANNON SCORES NEW HOSTING GIG

And you thought he was just a gigolo! Nick Cannon is proving that his wife may be bringing home the bacon but he's definitely able to scramble a few eggs of his own. We just found out Nick Cannon is taking over the spot formerly held by Regis Philbin and Jerry Springer. Are we late or just prone to ignoring Mariah Carey related news? Anyway, Nick is set to host the new season of "America's Got Talent." The same judge panel is back but it's good to see that they've added some color after replacing Brandy as a judge following her car accident. We're geeked that the show is being taped close by so we may actually catch a live taping of it at 6 pm, April 9th in Redondo Beach, Cali...Aww, the things we do as reporters! Second thought, Nick Cannon is a cutie pie so a little after work kandy won't hurt us.

SOULJA' BOY TOLD EM'! RING TONE RAPPING PAYS OFF

We, like you and your mama thought he'd be a one hitter quitter, but that is so not the case with Mr. Superman that hoe! I'm over 30 and I couldnt't resist Crank That but thought he'd never have me bobing and weaving again...until, "Turn My Swag On," and "Kiss me Thru the Phone" hit. I love them both and so does millions of listeners. His publicist reports the following:
The Collipark/Interscope supastar has turned the temperature up way past nova as “Kiss Me Thru the Phone” topped the Billboard’s Rhythmic Top 40 Radio chart this week and is the # 1 ringtone download sales (1,000,000+) for an incredible eight weeks in a row on Billboard’s Hot Ringmaster’s chart. The song remained steady at #4 on the Mainstream R&B/Hip-Hop chart and jumped to # 12 at Top 40, helped by a 1300-spin increase from the previous week, and is now at 107 million audience mark.

Although you'd never catch me dropping 10 bucks at Best Buy for a Soulja Boy album, you can find me rocking back and forth to any single he releases.

TRICK DADDY BATTLES LUPUS

Miami rapper Trick Daddy recently revealed his battle with Lupus, a disease of the immune system. Normally, the immune system protects the body from infection. In lupus, however, the immune system inappropriately attacks tissues in various parts of the body. This abnormal activity leads to tissue damage and illness. Here's what he said on The Rickey Smiley radio show:

“I went to the doctor, like, 12 years ago. She took all kinds of tests, because I was trying to get rid of what we call dry skin; she did biopsies and blood tests and swab tests. She told me I have lupus.”

“I am allergic highly to the sun, that’s my worst enemy. It’s like an AK-47 (gun) with a double clip on it,” Trick explains.

He adds, “A lot of people try to cover it up with regular make-up. It makes your skin pigmented. You can go from dark to light and not light to dark. You have to cover it up and conceal it.My mama had 11 children from 10 different men. If she can live with that, I know I can live with this.”

Trick is currently promoting his autobiography, Magic City: Trials of a Native Son. Rap fans may remember that Lupus claimed the life of rapper J. Dilla. We hope that Trick is doing everything possible to remain as healthy as he can.

RUN DMC RECEIVE HIGH HONOR

Eminem will come out of hiding to crown Run DMC with one of the highest honors a music artist can receive. The two remaining members of the groundbreaking trio will be inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Check allhiphop.com's report:
On April 4, superstar Eminem will induct Hip-Hop icons Run-DMC into Cleveland’s Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Eminem’s participation was announced via a press release from the ceremony’s organizers. Although recognized as one of the biggest acts in Hip-Hop history, Run-DMC has also been acclaimed for fusing the culture with rock music. Their 1985 album Kings of Rock earned them that unofficial moniker courtesy of the seminal title track, and “Can You Rock It Like This.” The former earned the group regular video rotation on the then Hip-Hop reluctant MTV. Joining Eminem as presenters will be Jimmy Page, Ron Wood of the Rolling Stones, and soul legend Smokey Robinson.

THE ROOTS ROCK OUT IN NYC

The Roots rocked the crowd at the Highland Ballroom, NYC on March 19th. They came through with some friends too. One of the friends was no other than Bilal. Where has he been hiding? Love him! Anyway, he came on the stage walking like a drunk man but as soon as he opened his mouth it was on! Nobody can hit that falsetto like him and make it sound so good and masculine (a little). The Roots band was on fire, as alwyas and Black Thought was sexy as ever spitting out his rhymes. The Roots ended the show with their classic song "You Got Me" remixed reggae style.

WOOD HARRIS' NOSE TICKELED BY KANDY

Kandykings.com was in the building for the 3rd Annual Avant Garde Fashion Event and "Shark City" Movie afterparty. Long title, cool event. Held at Boulevard3, the extremely packed event was nice even though attendees were promised but didn't receive complimentary Roberto Cavalli vodka. I can't lie but an open bar would wake me out of a coma. A $14 Tokyo Tea and $10 glass of Chardonnay ensured that it was a Thursday night well spent. The place wasn't swarming with kandy kings but I had my fill when I bumped in to Wood Harris. You know him from HBO's "The Wire," "Remember the Titans" and Showtime's "Hendrix." I know him from the cult classic, "Paid In Full." Wood was very gracious when I asked him for a picture. He complimented me on how good I smelled and I complimented him on how a great an actor he is. Other highlights included being schooled by Angel Conwell's stepdad. His name escapes us but we'd like to give him a special shot out for showing us men don't need socks when they were slacks and gators and at 47 you can still get it in. Another hot shot out to the legendary porn king, Ron Jeremy for giving one of our staff members a double kiss on the cheeks after I asked him if he takes pictures with black girls. He assured us that he does indeed.

JORDAN CRIES OVER SON'S TRIUMPH

Michael Jordan's younger son Marcus was stuntin' like his daddy as he helped lift his basketball team to a victory on Saturday. Don't you love a good father and son story? Check the AP story below.

PEORIA, Ill. - Michael Jordan celebrated another Chicago basketball championship - his son's.

Marcus Jordan, son of the Bulls' six-time champion, scored a game-high 19 points to lead Chicago Whitney Young to a 69-66 victory over Waukegan in the Illinois Class 4A championship Saturday.

As Marcus Jordan and his teammates celebrated on the court after the final buzzer, Michael Jordan stood quietly, clapping his hands with tears in his eyes.

"Crying?" the NBA great said in response to a reporter's question. "I'm not crying. Not for me, anyway."

The younger Jordan was key down the stretch after two teammates fouled out, hitting four of four free throws in the final 3 minutes to seal the victory.

"Awesome," Marcus Jordan said. "Just awesome."

Michael Jordan, part-owner of the Charlotte Bobcats, skipped his team's home loss to Indiana so he could attend his son's game. Another son, Jeff Jordan, plays basketball for the University of Illinois.

THE DREAM AND KANYE WEST INVADE AREA

We're hella late but kandykings.com was in the building for a special album release party for The Dream with special guest Kanye West last Thursday. The "secret" show was presented by Myspace Music. Hundreds of lucky myspace invitees and others waited in line for hours at Area Nightclub in West Hollywood. New kandy queen Def Jam group, Elektrik Red opened up the show while Fuzzy Fantabulous from LA's Power 106 MC'd. Either we're too short or our muscle game was not on point, one of the two led to us not getting a clear picture of Dream and West on stage. But we did hear a little bit of their duet, "Walking On The Moon." Kanye's entire appearance on stage was less than 2 minutes.

RYAN LESLIE AND RAHEEM DEVAUGHN:RANDOM PIC

Nothing to report. Just 2 of my favorite pieces of R&B Kandy. Ryan Leslie and Raheem DeVaughn. Enjoy!
